IPHONE! IPHONE! WHITHER ART THEE, IPHONE?

Published by under amy's head,likes & irks

Well, the time has come to stop pussy footin’ around and get me an iphone. I took part of the day off and I’m not going home without one. Unfortunately, getting up at 5.30am got me to Tyson’s Corner mall (the only place on the apple availability checker* that still had 16G phones) at about 7am, and shortly after I arrived, the nice Apple guy came out and said they have plenty of 8G phones, but only a handful of 16G. Not enough to get to where I was in line. He also said they expected a shipment today but who knows when, how many, what, etc. I sat in line for a while longer, but then I got to thinking that as long as I was waiting around for a shipment anyway, I might as well head down to Fair Oaks and wait for *their* shipment. Fair Oaks is more accessible (Vienna is a mess to drive around in, so much traffic) and whenever I do get my hands on a few 16G iphones, James is going to have to meet me, and Fair Oaks would be easier for him.

*Just a note on this apple availability checker: The real one, on apple’s site, is only accessibly after 9pm. One night while I was sitting waiting for it to be 9pm so I could check it, I thought, “what if i just turn my clock forward?” Which I did. And it showed me the availability. Someone else noticed the same thing and put it in the page I linked to above, so you can check the availability anytime, not just after 9pm. I have double checked it’s accuracy by calling stores which the checker said had phones in stock, and it checked out, so this checker is pulling actual store inventory, and not estimated shipping or anything like that. Good stuff!

So I left and zipped down to Fair Oaks and am currently lounging in one of the loungey areas, right in front of the apple store. Nobody else is here in line, even though the availability thingee says they have the 8G in stock. Guess everyone wants the 16G! (Whoops, my bad, that is Pentagon City that has some 8G. This store is completely sold out.) I’m going to be hanging out here until they either receive some, or I see in the availability thingee that another store has gotten some in, in which case, I’ll be zipping on over.

In anticipation of getting the iphone, I’ve been reading up on it, downloaded a few iphone podcasts, etc. which has only served to make my iphone fervor reach MANIA level.

Wish me luck, because I AM GETTING AN IPHONE TODAY!

no phone. *sniff*

As you may or may not know, I stash things in my bra from time to time.

Yesterday I worked from home, and when quittin’ time came ’round, I made up some PBJs, tossed some grapes in a tupperware, filled up some water bottles, and stuffed all the various swimming paraphenalia into a bag. I went upstairs and got my swimming suit on, went downstairs grabbed all the stuff, stuck my keys and my phone in the top of my swimming suit and took off to get the kids. They were very excited to go to the pool.

And of course, I forgot about my phone, in my suit, until after I was in the pool.

It’s dead now. Completely defunct.

I am eligible to get a new phone but they’d probably try to lock me down to a 2 yr contract and James and I are eyeing the new i-phone. I know we shouldn’t get them, because aside from the $400 bucks for 2 phones, the monthly bill would be a lot more than we’re paying now because we’d have to add a data plan for each of us. I get mad at our cell phone bill NOW and if we got iphones it would be $60 BIGGER.. Grr.

But with no phone now, and the new i-phone coming out in 2 weeks for only $199… Well, I’m making no promises.

The saddest part? Whenever I got a new phone, I was going to keep this one to be my bedside sudoku game phone. Hmph.

I’m working from home today.

It’s nice that I can save on gas now and then.

Our basement furnace/ac has water pooling underneath it. Not happy. They should be out here soon. Hopefully the drain is just clogged up or something.

I’d rather use the gas then have HVAC woes. I don’t like HVAC woes. They are woeful.

Whenever I work at home I turn on the TV, plop myself on the couch to work on my laptop while I watch reruns of sit-coms I’ve seen a bajazillion times. It’s like background noise. A year or so ago, I was all about Friends, but lately I’ve been on a Scrubs kick.

Well, I’ve gone through all the Scrubses (it’s top of the list lately).

All the Sexes in the Cities have been watched and deleted too.

I went looking for other old shows that I love to put on the Tivo’s Season Pass. Did you know that Clean Sweep is no longer running on TLC? What is that about?? I hope it’s just because it’s on a break or something because that’s a great show. What if it’s cancelled? I know google could answer these questions for me, but that would be too easy. Much better to wonder aloud on your blog to the internet.

Luckily I’m saved from no-background-noise-in-the-form-of-old-tv-shows-while-working from an old saved Sound of Music. The hills are alive, yo.

Anyone else love to watch old shows they’ve already seen a thousand times?

(I also love to re-read books I’ve read a thousand times. I’ve gone through many many copies of the Anne of Green Gables series.)

-amy goes to get her nuked food out of the microwave. AND THEN SHE EATS IT. RAWRM-NUM-NUM!

(I’M SORRY PETER WALSH! IT’S ALL MY FAULT FOR TAKING YOU OFF THE TIVO! FORGIVE ME! IF YOU PUT HIM BACK ON TLC, I’LL WATCH EVERY DAY I PINKIE SWEAR!!)

those crazy kids…

Published by under amy's head,likes & irks,photos

Two of my older brothers are getting ready to have the time of their lives.

This weekend is the 24 hours of LeMons race in California. I wish I could be there! My brother Joe first roped my brother Larry into joining his team last year. This year, they will be there with each of their own team/car. They’ve both been blogging about it (although Larr a bit more than Joe, *cough* *getwithitjoseph* *cough*)

Joseph’s team: Snowspeeder
Larry’s team: Volatile RAM

Here’s a couple of photos of Joe’s car complete with star wars geekiness rebel alliance logo on the side (I am married to the hugest SW geek ever, thus, I know these things), and here are some from Larry’s, who did a dandy paint job featuring many of those loved old arcade games, pac-man, blinky, & a space invaders alien.

I love this photo Larry took on their test run. I’d ask him if I could make it into a banner for Crazymokes, but I guess it’s not very applicable to THIS site…

I’ll be thinking of you guys this weekend! Have a blast! Don’t hurt yourselves!
